TYPOLOGY AND PATTERNS FOR HANDLING OF SLUM SETTLEMENTS IN BONTANG CITY.
TATALOKA, 16 (4).
Starting from a fisherman settlement area in Bontang Kuala Village. The city of Bontang has increased with diverse activities. The level of living of the community has experienced a decline in both the level of the environment and income and the growth of slums. This condition greatly affects several aspects, namely physical, social, cultural and economic aspects. The handling of slum areas in Bontang City becomes strategic when the area is integrated with parts of the city such as the city center, urban growth centers, and regions
others in the vicinity, such as industrial estates, trade, warehousing, and offices.
For this reason, it is necessary to identify the location of slum areas. This identification methodology does not distinguish the distribution of slum areas to be
found, with criteria criteria classified into the criteria of Non-Economic Vitality, Regional Economic Vitality, Land Ownership Status, Infrastructure Condition and
Facilities, Regency / City Government Commitments, and Handling Priorities. The assessment of slum neighborhoods is carried out with a weighting system for each of the above criteria. Determination of criteria weights is relative and depends on the preferences of individuals or groups of people in seeing their respective influences
criteria. The pattern of handling slums in Bontang City in accordance with the characteristics of the above locations is carried out in a pattern according to the location character, including locations with the category of high slums (KT) carried out curative handling patterns (countermeasures), locations with medium slum categories (KS) conducted reductive handling , and the location with the category of low slums (KR) is carried out preventive handling patterns (prevention).
