Abstract

Research investigated taboo words uttered by the acts in Bad Teacher movie. The objectives of this research are to describe the functions of taboo words by the acts in the movie. This research employed descriptive qualitative as a method. The instrument of this research is the oobservation method. The instrument of observation is a checklist. The data was collected by used documentation technique. The research results are stated as follows. Firstly, there are four functions of the word word to show contemptuous, to draw attention to provocative, and to mock authority. The most effective function for female acts and to draw attention to behavior is the most application function for male acts. Secondly, some of the teacher's characters are found in disparage teacher profession, ignorant to the students, often talk dirty (say taboo words), hobby consume marijuana and smoker, brutal appearance (undisciplined), the way in teaching not educate (irresponsibility), crafty person (wild), uncouth person, and disrespect. Thirdly, the ideal relationship between Indonesian teacher with teacher's characters in the movie, teacher must possess teacher's competences. Based on the results, people produce taboo words in strongest emotioning condition because of some reasons. Many people have higher teacher background, they must possess teacher's competences.
