Abstract

This study aims to describe the involvement of students in PAIKEM-based learning in social studies subjects in grade IV SDN 06 Kota Bengkulu. This type of research is qualitative research, with the research method used is descriptive method. homeroom teachers as additional informants. Research instruments are human instruments, using observation guidelines and interview guidelines. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by examining all data obtained from observations about student involvement during the learning process and interviews of teachers who had been recorded, the data were analyzed through data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. Test data credibility using improved persistence and triangulation techniques. The results of this study are showing student involvement which is characterized by (1) students active and engrossed in doing or working in each learning activity marked with enthusiasm following the learning process during individual or group activities, asking when not understanding the material, willing to help friends in group activities, and looking for other sources to add insight Mareka (2) the teacher provides opportunities for students to appear in front of the class to express something that marked the courage of students during the presentation and comment on the work of other groups (3) in each group work there is clarity of the role of each student and carried out in rotation which is seen when students and their groups give and receive influence within the group. Student involvement has been seen during the social studies learning process using PAIKEM-based learning. Keywords: Descriptive Study, Student Involvement, Social Studies Learning and PAIKEM
