Abstract

This research method is Classroom Action Research. Classroom action research procedures include planning, implementation phase, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection technique
done by conducting observations, interviews and documentation. The research instrument used in this study is the observation sheet, practice test sheet. Data analysis
used is quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The purpose of this study is to practice running on the beach sand can improve the ability to run short distances 200 m. The ability to run a short distance must be achieved in the subject of Physical Education in SMP Negeri 21 Kaur, namely 84%. After the research is carried out, it can be concluded that by running exercises on sand
the beach can improve the ability to run 200 m short distances in the initial test, cycle I and cycle II. In the initial test the average score of students was 16% (4 students) in the good category, 32% (8 students) in the sufficient category, 52% (13 students) in the less category. in the first cycle there has been an increase in students' ability which is 16% (4 students) in the category
Very well, 36% (9 students) are in good category, 28% (7 students) are in the sufficient category, 20% are in the poor category. In the second cycle 56% (14 students) were in excellent category, 36% (9 students) in good category, 4% (1 student) in
enough category, 4% (1 student) in less category. So the average value in the classical initial test action is 48%, after the first cycle classically it becomes 72%, in the second cycle it becomes 96%. Where the results of the study show that running exercises on the beach sand can improve the short distance running ability of 200 m. Keywords: Learning, Athletics, 200 m Sprint
