Abstract

Efficiency is an important factor that determines the overall performance of a bank. The importance of bank efficiency above, this research tries to analyze several factors influencing the efficiency of banking industry in Indonesia. These factors include bank's marketshare, motivation or the role of bank owner in managing a bank, bank's liquidity, and the bank's status of being a foreign exchange bank. Since the data has been analized includes the years when Indonesia has an economic crisis, economic crisis that has started in the late I990 is also used as one of the independent variables. By the bank population in Indonesia, this research uses data from 88 banks that constitute approximately 40% of the total number of banks in Indonesia in 1997 when it comes to a general conclusion that, first , fund concentration ratio. as an indicator that reflecting the bank's market share, the significant effect on the bank's efficiency, which is reflected by the return on assets. Second, equity to asset ratio, as an indicator that reflects the motivation of share-holders, has a significant positive effect on the bank's efficiency. Third, time deposit ratio, as the indicator that reflects the bank's liquidity, has a significant positive effect on the bank's efficiency.
