BIO ADSORBENT NANGKA WOOD POWDER AS A RAPOR OF ION Pb (II) FROM SOLUTION

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the bio-adsorbent characteristics of jackfruit wood powder and examine the possibility of absorbing heavy metal ions from solution. Adsorption experiments were carried out to calculate the adsorption capacity of bio adsorbent. This study proves that the pH of the solution affects the absorption behavior, by increasing the pH value from 2 to 4, the absorption capacity also increases. The optimum pH of the solution for the adsorption of Pb (II) ion into bio adsorbent is pH 4. The pseudo-second order kinetics model is suitable for describing the process of adsorbing Pb (II) ions into bio adsorbent. From the calculation of the kinetics model, the value of the adsorption capacity at equilibrium is 1.907 mg / g. FTIR analysis results showed that the bond Câ € “H, carbonyl group â €“ C = O and nitrile group â € “Câ €” contributed to the binding of Pb (II) ions on the surface of the bio adsorbent.
