ABSTRACT

Science process skills are one of the important factors in improving student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the differences in the average learning outcomes of cognitive and psychomotor aspects of students in physics learning on the use of approaches with inquiry methods and verification experiments. Learning outcomes of cognitive aspects were measured by pretest and posttest, while for psychomotor aspects measured by the achievement of aspects of skills. The technique used in data analysis is N-gain while hypothesis testing uses Independent Sample t-Test. Based on the N-gain average score, the cognitive aspect of student learning outcomes in the first experimental class is 0.52 and the second experimental class is 0.33. These results indicate that the approach to science process skills with experimental inquiry methods is more effectively applied to improve student learning outcomes in the cognitive aspects of learning. In psychomotor aspects, the average value of the inquiry experimental class is 73.77 and 70.03 for verification experiments. In addition, there was no difference in the results of the average psychomotor aspects of student learning through inquiry and experimental verification methods based on science process skills.
