STRATEGY FOR THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO IMPROVE POSITIVE IMAGE OF THE DPRD IN REGIONAL PEOPLE'S PERCEPTION
The existence of social media cannot be separated from everyday life because it has become part of human life, both personal and institutional, both private and government . They are competing to develop information technology with various types of social media because social media has extraordinary benefits. This is a great opportunity for the DPRD to represent the people. DPRD can get closer to the people through social media, both to socialize activities, to absorb information and aspirations, and to communicate directly to find out what the people want. Related to that, a study was carried out with the title Strategy for the Use of Social Media to Increase the Positive Image of the DPRD in the Perception of the Regional People. By using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, this study intends to describe a strategy that can be used as a reference for the DPRD as part of the Regional Government in the use of social media to improve the positive image in the perception of the local people. The results of the study conclude as follows: 1) Many articles in the legislation related to the House of Representatives mandate the urgency of disseminating information on the performance of the DPRD as part of accountability and an important part of efforts to improve the positive image of the DPRD; 2) The existence of social media with various forms and ways of providing great opportunities, both for the existence of the DPRD institution and the personal existence of DPRD members, both for enhancing the positive image and negative image of the DPRD when carrying out the functions of making regional regulations, supervision and finance in people's perceptions; 3) Effective social media utilization strategies for DPRD as people's representatives is a persuasive strategy by using an alternative model of Hugh Rank Persuasion information dissemination that further strengthens the inclusion of key components, exposes intensively ideas, events, activities or substance of information that is of good and excess (positive side) in the DPRD and play, disguise, or hide (downplay) negative aspects.
