The development of instructional media produced in this research is in the form of historical learning media product based on visualization of Pasar Gede building which is packaged in the form of a documentary film to develop social harmony of SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta students. The purpose of this study is 1. To analyze and describe the condition of learning media that has been used in SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta 2. Analyze the design of media development based visualization Pasar Gede to menumbuhkembangkan social harmony SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta. 3. Describe the effectiveness of media-based visualization of Pasar Gede to cultivate social harmony of SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta.
In this research, the method used is descriptive method of analysis and evaluation. So to know the condition where the research used descriptive method, while to evaluate the feasibility of instructional media applied in the place of research in the process of developing visualization based media in the form of documentary film and in the testing phase used evaluation method.
Data obtained from the research results Descriptive analysis that the media used during the learning process in SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta in the form of textbooks and other supporting media is microsof office in the form of powerpoint . The needs of teachers and students in the learning process that took place in high school SMA 1 Batik and SMA MTA Surakarta by utilizing the medium of learning so high. Linked to students' understanding of the values of social harmony that make guidelines for people's lives and societies especially in the city of Surakarta is still low, evidenced by the pretest results given to the students. The importance of the development of learning media based on visualization of documentary film in the form of big market building is done by several ways such as validation test from material expert, media expert, one-on-one test, small group ciba test and field test with the result obtained average every validation more than 3.5 of the documentary that has dipruduksi, so it can be concluded that the media is in good category and deserve to be used as a research tool. relating to the effectiveness test results indicates that the experiment class value is higher than the control class. The statements are adjusted using the t test, from which t test results obtained t hit > t tab or 0.05> 0.002 stating decision H 0 rejected and it shows that both groups have unequal achievement value Related to the change of students attitude related to the understanding of students after receiving the historical learning material that is associated with the value of social harmony that exist in the Surakarta community, especially in Pasar Gede shows the attitude the students in the experimental class mentioned a higher attitude scale than the control class. The statement is proved based on t test analysis. From t test results obtained t hit > t tab or 0.05> 0.032 which declares decision H 0 rejected and it shows that both groups have unequal attitudinal scales. Thus it is concluded that there is effectiveness in the use of audio visual media in learning history in class XI IIS 2 in SMA MTA Surakarta compared to control class conducted in class XI IIS 4 in SMA Batik 1 Surakarta
